LEC Group is a complete service, fully qualified Quantity Surveying and Cost Management practice based in Vancouver, B.C. Since our formation in 1984 we have advised on over 3,200 projects and over $25 Billion of construction throughout B.C., Canada, the USA and overseas.
 
Cost planning, quantity surveying and cost control are the foundation of our practice. We provide services for master planning, functional programming, cost planning at all stages of the design process and cost control through to completion of construction. We also provide value analysis, construction loan monitoring, life cycle costing, payment certification, independent certifier, lenders technical advisor, change order negotiation and dispute resolution services.

We are also called upon to provide expert witness advice, value insurance claims on construction work, negotiate contract claims, perform contract administration and mortgage monitoring services. Senior Quantity Surveyor 

We are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor role, based in our office in Downtown Vancouver, to carry out standard commercial duties for both cost management and loan monitoring works.

Our cost management works cover various (and varied) sectors of the industry - aviation, commercial, gaming, institutional, and recreational projects - from concept stage to pre-tender stage.

This role also involves some loan monitoring on multi-unit residential, high rise, and mixed use projects.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Carry our Quantity takeoffs for Architectural, Structural, Civil, and Landscaping works, using On Screen Software (On Screen Takeoff from On Centre Software) for both CIQS Elemental format and Trade/Masterformat

  • Coordination with our specialist Mechanical and Electrical PQS’s on scope. Reviewing and incorporating their scope of work within the overall cost plan report.

  • Communicating with all project stakeholders and members of the design team

  • Pricing and preparation of cost plan reports, using Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and PDF software

  • Managing, coordinating, analyzing, and generating Budget Review Reports and Progress Draw Reports on loan monitoring projects, including all liaison with Developers and Lenders

  • Liaison, delegation, and directing Junior QS Staff alongside providing mentoring and guidance

Experience

  • PQS or MRICS designation

  • 5 to 10 years in a similar Quantity Surveyor or Estimator position. Local BC experience is preferred.

  • Can work with On Screen Takeoff software, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and PDF software.

  • Personable and engaging. Our office environment is generally relaxed, there are no egos, and we work effectively as a team.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary up to $125,000 depending on qualifications and experience

Mark’s experience covers quantity surveying, construction management, project management, contract administration, scheduling, cost control, sub-contract procurement, value analysis and project reporting.

He is Past President of the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors, Past President of the Quantity Surveyors Society of BC, the Past Chairman of the Public Construction Council of British Columbia (PCCBC), and the Past Secretary for the Pacific Association of Quantity Surveyors (PAQS).

Mark is also a Fellow and an Award of Merit recipient of the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors.

Keith Damphousse, PQS, MRICS, GSC, Partner

Keith has experience within the areas of cost management, quantity surveying and development finance monitoring. He has proficiency in project budgeting and cost planning, tendering and procurement, project administration, project scheduling, value analysis and engineering, and risk management on projects across Canada.

Keith is Past Chair and Brand Ambassad for the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors – British Columbia Chapter. He sits on the BCIT Architecture and Building Technology Program Advisory Committee and BCIT Construction Management Program Advisory Committee as Chair, and is a Faculty Advisor for the Construction Management Program at BCIT.

Keith is a qualified Professional Quantity Surveyor (PQS), a Chartered Surveyor (MRICS), and a Gold Seal Certified member (GSC).

Ross Templeton MRICS, PQS, Partner

Ross has over two decades of construction and consulting experience with a diverse portfolio of projects ranging up to $2bn in value. Ross’ sector expertise includes public, community, leisure, education, residential, healthcare, transportation and complex mixed-use projects.

Ross is a Chartered Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) and Professional Quantity Surveyor (PQS) who also holds a B.Sc. honours degree in Quantity Surveying.

Ross is also a Past Director of the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors, BC Board (CIQS-BC) and a Past Healthcare Committee Member of the Architectural Institute of BC (AIBC).

George Evans PQS(F), Consulting Partner

George has extensive experience in cost planning, contract administration, construction loan monitoring, change order negotiation, contract procedures, value analysis workshop coordination and expert witness testimony for construction disputes.

He is Past President of both the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors and the Quantity Surveyors Society of BC and continues to serve on various committees and provide mentoring to PQS candidates.

George is also a Fellow and an Award of Merit recipient of the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors.
